Jean H. Fleurinay Jr.
Haitian-Born Frontman and Musical Trailblazer
Jean H. Fleurinay Jr., born December 21, 1976, in Croix-Des-Bouquets, Haiti, is a dynamic vocalist, bandleader, and creative force whose career spans decades in the Haitian and Caribbean music scenes. His journey began with a deep-rooted passion for the rhythms and soul of Haitian music, ultimately leading him to become the lead singer of Frisson—a touring band that made its mark with energetic performances and cultural authenticity.
Later, Jean co-founded Caribbean Groov alongside longtime friend Russel Pierre. Fusing genres and transcending traditional musical boundaries, the band became known for its genre-bending sound and wide-reaching appeal, performing across cities and states to enthusiastic audiences.
Driven by values of discipline and personal growth, Jean took a pivotal pause from music to pursue higher education at the University of Old Westbury—guided by the life lessons of his father, Jean Fleurinay Sr., who instilled in him that “without an education, you will never succeed in anything you do.”
Jean’s musical evolution came full circle with the creation of Jrchwazi, a band he co-founded with friend and Maestro Bienaime. With a renewed vision and a powerful new sound, Jrchwazi marks a bold new chapter in Jean’s artistic legacy—one that blends experience, cultural pride, and innovation into a sound all its own.
